"She Walks In Beauty" - Lord Byron (1814)
She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies; (Simile + Hyperbole)
And all that’s best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes; (Oxymoron+Metaphor)
Thus mellowed to that tender light
Which heaven to gaudy day denies.
One shade the more, one ray the less,
Had half impaired the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress,
Or softly lightens o’er her face;
Where thoughts serenely sweet express,
How pure, how dear their dwelling-place.
And on that cheek, and o’er that brow,
So soft, so calm, yet eloquent, (Anaphora + Alliteration)
The smiles that win, the tints that glow, (Apostrophe + Personification)
But tell of days in goodness spent,
A mind at peace with all below,
A heart whose love is innocent!
Analysis:
She walks in beauty, like the night of cloudless climes and starry skies: This line is an example of simile because the poet compares the beauty of a woman like a night of cloudless climes and starry skies. This line is also an example of hyperbole because the poet exaggerates how beauty the woman is.
And all that's best of dark and bright meet in her aspect and her eyes: This line is an example of oxymoron because there are words that contradicts each other in this line, which is "dark" and "bright"." This line is also an example of metaphor because the poet uses contradicting words to emphasize the balance of the woman's beauty. (Comparison between two things to explain an idea)
So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,: This line is an example of anaphora because the word "so" is repeated two times in this line. This line is also an example of alliteration because there is a repeated sound spoken in a sequence.
The smiles that win, the tints that glow: This line is an example of apostrophe because the things mentioned in this line (smiles/tints) are defined as if they were living beings (win/glow). This line is also an example of personification because the words "smiles" and "tints" are given human-like qualities such as "win" and "glow."

"Because I could not stop for Death" - Emily Dickinson
Because I could not stop for Death,
He kindly stopped for me; (Personification + Irony)
The carriage held but just ourselves
And Immortality. (Personification)
We slowly drove, he knew no haste, (Personification)
And I had put away
My labor, and my leisure too, (Alliteration)
For his civility.
We passed the school where children played,
Their lessons scarcely done;
We passed the fields of gazing grain,
We passed the setting sun. (Anaphora)
We paused before a house that seemed
A swelling of the ground;
The roof was scarcely visible,
The cornice but a mound.
Since then 't is centuries; but each
Feels shorter than the day (Paradox)
I first surmised the horses' heads
Were toward eternity.
Analysis:
Because I could not stop for Death, he kindly stopped for me: This line is an example of personification because in this line, death is portrayed as a kind human who "kindly" stops for the dead. This line is also an example of irony because of how this line portrays death as "kind" and not scary, while people usually fear death.
The carriage held but just ourselves, and Immortality: This line is an example of personification because in this line, immortality is personified as a passenger of a carriage.
We slowly drove, he knew no haste: This line, specifically on the "he knew no haste" part, is an example of personification because the word "he" in this line is the personification of Death, picturing him as a patient person.
My labor, and my leisure too,: This line is an example of alliteration because of how similar the words sound in this line (labor/leisure).
We passed the school where children played, their lessons scarcely done; we passed the fields of gazing grain, we passed the setting sun.: This line is an example of anaphora because "We passed" is repeated three times in this part.
Since then 't is centuries; but each feels shorter than the day: This line is an example of paradox because centuries can't be shorter than a day, but it may be true and feels like that in life after death.
